The 'Portuguese pear quince' , also 'Portuguese quince' or 'Portuguese' , is a widespread cultivar of quince . It is planted as a fruit tree and, because of the large leaves, is also used as an ornamental plant.

Variety characteristics

The variety 'Portuguese Quince' is considered undemanding and grows very strongly. The 'Portuguese quince' bears abundantly early on. The fruits of 'Portuguese Quince' reach a medium size and are mostly pear-shaped. A typical fruit is 9 cm long and 6 cm wide. Your surface is uneven and a little bulging. The straw-yellow bowl is covered with yellowish wool, and around the chalice it is often rusted . The fruits are very juicy and have a pleasant aroma.
