Eduardo Antônio dos Santos , better known as Edu Manga , (born February 2, 1967 in Osasco ) is a former Brazilian soccer player.

Career

The 1.85 meter tall midfielder began his career in 1985 with Palmeiras São Paulo , where he was under contract for four years. There are no exact statistics for these four seasons, it is only known that Edu Manga played at least 51 league games there, in which he scored eight times.

After the years in Brazil, he moved to the Mexican club Club América , where he was under contract for three seasons. In the 1989/90 season he played 32 league games and scored 20 goals. The next year he was used in 26 league games and scored 16 goals. In his last year at the club, he made 31 league games and scored four goals. His next stop was the Corinthians São Paulo association . In 1993 Edu Manga moved to Asia for the Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse , where he played 32 league games and scored 13 goals. He also played two games in the Kaiser Cup (2 goals) and five games in the J. League Cup (3 goals). In the 1994/95 season he returned for six league games to Club América, where he hit the net once.

His next stations were the club CS Emelec au Ecuador , as well as the Brazilian clubs Guarani FC and Paraná Clube . In the 1996/97 season he signed a contract with the Spanish club Real Valladolid , where he played 37 goalless league games in the season. 13 goalless league games followed in the following season. In 1998 and 1999 Edu played Manga for the Chilean club CD Universidad Católica . The 1999/00 season he worked again in Spain for the CD Logroñés , where he completed nine league games without scoring.

In 2001 he signed a contract with Sport Recife , having played for the Rio Branco EC the year before . There he was used 17 times and scored five goals. In 2002 Edu Manga ended his active career, this year he played again for the Clube do Remo , Náutico Capibaribe and Figueirense FC (4 games / no goal).

He also played ten goalless games for the Brazilian national football team from 1987 to 1989 .
