The porcelain factory Oscar Schlegelmilch was put into operation in Langewiesen in 1892 with around 200 employees. Mainly vases , mocha cups and knickknacks were made .

In 1953 the company was nationalized. He had 225 employees. In 1972 the company was closed. Many employees found employment in the then new Henneberg porcelain factory in Ilmenau. Today some small businesses are located on the site.
