The Poschacher Villa is a listed building on Poschacherstraße in Linz .

history

In 1840, architect Johann Metz converted a simple farmhouse owned by Rittmeister Alois von Bosch into a Biedermeier country residence. The two-storey building was rebuilt several times over the decades and was for a long time the residence of the industrialist Josef Poschacher , who at the time was running an important brewery in Linz. The associated six-story tower was built in 1902. During the general renovation, which began in April 2009, consideration had to be given to parts of the historically valuable parts of the listed building.

owner

In 2007, the city of Linz acquired the villa for € 615,000 from the Austrian Federal Railways . The Austrian Court of Auditors criticized the fact that only half of the originally expected minimum purchase price demand was achieved, the purchase price was based on an incomprehensible third-party appraisal and that there were no consistent strategies for the sale.

use

Since August 2010, a childcare facility with two toddler groups and two kindergarten groups has been housed in the house on a usable area of 670 m² . On the north-west side of the villa, a winter garden was created on the former terrace on the second floor . The house had to be changed by demolishing partitions to meet the new requirements. The construction and furnishing costs were estimated at € 2.3 million. The villa has a 7,198 m² park.
