Post and Inrikes Tidningar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Post och Inrikes Tidningar (PoIT, Post and Domestic Newspapers ) is the official Swedish state gazette .

PoIT was founded in 1645 under Queen Christina and her Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna and calls itself the oldest newspaper in the world that is still published . In 1791 King Gustav III commissioned his newly established Svenska Academies with the publication of the newspaper.

The years 1645 to 1721 were digitized during the Tiden project (around 2001) at the Kungliga Biblioteket (Royal Library) in Stockholm .

On January 1, 2007, the newspaper ceased printing. Daily online editions of the newspaper will in future only be published on the website of Bolagsverkets , the Swedish company registration authority; three printed editions will then be produced only for use in the university libraries.
