Mail recipient

A mail recipient is the person who is named in the address and for whom a mail item is intended. This can be a natural or a legal person (e.g. an institution, a corporation or a company).

A mail recipient is also understood to mean the person who actually receives a mail item . This person can, but does not have to be, the person addressed (addressee). It can be instructed by the recipient to receive it. If a person receives a shipment without an order, he is either acting with the presumed will of the recipient (e.g. neighbor ) or the person is acting illegally.

Mail and courier shipments
