The Postal History Museum is a museum founded in 1988 in the Lower Saxony city ​​of Friesoythe .

The museum was founded in 1988 on an area of ​​16 m² on the upper floor of the former post office of the city of Friesoythe and has been located in the former town hall "Stadtmitte" since 2004 with an exhibition area of ​​300 m².

The museum shows a cross-section of postal and telecommunications history from around 1750 to the present day, with the exhibition comprising around 1000 exhibits.

Among other things, optical telegraphs , a Morse code device from 1850 and other devices that show the development of telecommunications through to the smartphone are on display. The exhibition includes the Department of cable and overhead line equipment , among others underground cable types and high-performance fiber optic cable for data highways . Various tools illustrate the historical working conditions of telecommunications craftsmen . A post room gives an insight into a post agency from 1910. The exhibition also includes mailboxes from different eras, historical uniforms, photos, letters and writings.

In addition, there are special exhibitions on various current topics of contemporary history.
