The Posthochhaus in Würzburg is a ten-story high-rise at the main train station in the old town at Bahnhofplatz 2.

The building was built in 1976 and has shaped the Würzburg cityscape ever since. A piece of the Ringpark had to give way for the Post Tower , as Bismarckstrasse was relocated to the south. The originally dark facade was clad with white panels in 2003.

The previous building, the Würzburg railway post office, was built in 1901 and demolished in 1971.

Use:

  • The Deutsche Bundespost used the building as an administration building earlier. Today there is only one Postbank branch with postal services in the basement.
  • The Bavarian Broadcasting’s regional studio Mainfranken has been located in the building since 1996.
  • The Würzburg inspection of the federal police uses the building with 140 officers on three floors.
