Postmix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Postmix (including post-mix ) is a method of serving of - usually carbonated - drinks . When tapping, the chilled tap water with or without CO 2 is mixed with aromas.

In postmix systems, special beverage syrups are usually used, which are usually delivered in reusable containers or bag-in-box packaging. Before serving, the syrup is mixed in the correct ratio (usually 1: 4 to 1:16) with filtered, taste-neutralized, chilled and, depending on the drink, also carbonated water . This is usually done by applying pressure to the KEG container, electromagnetic dosing pumps or water jet mixers .

A postmix system is more complex in structure than a premix system , so there are significantly more components. The diffusers and mixing funnels must be cleaned daily. The advantage of postmix systems, however, is that a fraction of the storage capacity is required, since only syrup and carbon dioxide have to be stored and the water can be taken from the public network . However, higher acquisition and maintenance costs are disadvantageous. In addition, the taste of the drinks can change according to the local drinking water taste.
