There are regional differences in container sizes. In Germany there are 9-liter and 18-liter steel containers, in the Rhine-Main area and in Switzerland there are 10-liter and 20-liter containers. The premix drink itself is identical to the drink of the same brand, which is sold in bottles or cans. The soft drink is dispensed via a dispensing system, which cools it to the optimum drinking temperature and, in some cases, prevents excessive foam formation by means of special taps . The use of carbon dioxide only serves as a delivery pressure to get the drink out of the container.

A premix system can be used when the volume is between 25 and 100 hl . A post-mix system is profitable from a volume of 100 hl .
