Potemkin City Limits is the fifth album by Propagandhi . It was released on October 18, 2005, almost four and a half years after their previous album. Instead of the usual commercials, the band spread rumors of their singer and guitarist Chris Hannah leaving and renamed him, creating a lot of confusion.

In terms of content, Propagandhi mainly attacks US foreign policy, which has been criticized as neo-imperialist, but in addition to the Middle East conflict , the expulsion of indigenous people and the commercialization of the punk rock scene also play a role. Particularly significant is the freely released song " America's Army ™ (The Youth Marching)", which criticizes the propaganda game of the same name. In the accompanying brochure, the band advertises human rights organizations and other charitable projects and offers URLs and PDF files on the CD.

The name of the album is derived from Grigori Potemkin , who, according to a legend , led Catherine the Great to believe that village dummies were there. “And Potemkin City Limits is meant to suggest that we may have reached a point in history where deception and deception have reached their absolute and sick climax. It looks like we have reached the final phase of humanity, but we still don't behave any differently and think everything would be okay, ”said Glen Lambert in an interview with the Internet music magazine Gaesteliste.de. A song of the same name Potemkin City Limits was released four years later on the follow-up album Supporting Caste .
