The Potsdamer Kickers (officially: Potsdamer Kickers 94 eV ) are a sports club from Potsdam . In addition to football , the club offers gymnastics , bowling and volleyball as well as other recreational sports.

history

The association was founded on April 17, 1994 by dissatisfied members of the SSV Turbine Potsdam . A-youth coach Fred Hagedorn and some of his players saw no sporting perspective for young players in this club and then founded the Potsdamer Kickers. In April 1996, the football department of PSV Potsdam / Eiche joined the kickers.

Since the association was founded, the members have had to struggle with difficult conditions. In addition to a soccer field that is normally too small for games, the club does not have its own functional building. In April 2016, the members of the Potsdamer Kickers caused an uproar in the Brandenburg state capital. With an organized photo campaign and an urgent request, they turned to the Potsdam City Council and pointed out the extremely unsuitable for competition conditions in the middle of one of the largest football clubs in Potsdam.

Women's soccer

The women's football department was founded in 2012. The team included numerous former players of the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . Monique Braun and Franziska Hagemann had already played for Turbine in the Bundesliga . In the first season, he was promoted to the state league and won the Brandenburg State Cup with a 2-1 win against FSV Babelsberg 74 .

This qualified the team for the DFB Cup and lost the first round match against the second division promoted FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin 2-5. In the 2013/14 national league season, the Kickers won the Brandenburg championship with a 4-1 win on penalties against Blau-Weiß Beelitz . The team was then dissolved, the coach and many top performers switched to FSV Babelsberg 74.

Men's soccer

The club started in the 2nd district class in 1994 and rose to the state class in 2006 after years of circular gaming. Three years later, the Kickers rose to the national league, to which they belonged for two seasons. After two relegations, the club will play again at district level in the 2014/15 season. The renewed promotion to the state level succeeded in 2015/2016.
