The Pottinger Point is a headland at the Nordküstevon King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is 3 km east of Round Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1960 after the British captain Charles Pottinger (1790-1833), skipper of the Tartar from London , with whom he operated from 1821 to 1822 in the waters around the South Shetland Islands.
