The former preparation institute is a monument in the small town of Elsterwerda in southern Brandenburg in the Elbe-Elster district . The building is located on Elsterstraße directly opposite the Elbe-Elster-Klinikum.

history

In the late 19th century it was necessary own Elsterwerda preparatory school to build to the contender for the six-year-old teacher studies at 1858 opened teachers' college in Elster Schloss prepare and bring to a uniform level of training. In 1898 the building was finally built by the Elsterwerda master builder Friedrich Jage , who in 1878 had built the seminar gym at the castle, which was demolished in 1994. This newly created facility made the seminar a model institution of its time.

The building was later used by the secondary school that followed the seminar after the teachers' seminar had been moved in in 1926 . After the institution was used as a labor camp , it has been used for vocational training since 1939 .

The building and the associated premises are currently used by the Elbe-Elster Upper School Center, which is run by the Elbe-Elster district.
