Presidential election in Croatia 2014/15

The sixth presidential election in Croatia since the country's independence took place in its first round on December 28, 2014 and in its second round on January 11, 2015 (runoff). With Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović from the conservative HDZ , a woman was elected for the first time.
Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović was second in the first ballot with 37.2%, behind incumbent Ivo Josipović with 38.5% and ahead of third-placed Ivan Vilibor Sinčić with 16.4%. In the second ballot on January 11, 2015, she was elected President with 50.7% of the vote.
