Test procedure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Test methods are used for the precise or random testing of raw materials, semi- finished and finished products for impurities, defective material, deviating dimensions or inadequate function, etc.

Many of these procedures are specified in standards ( DIN standards, Önorms , ASTM ), in particular for material testing (pure metals such as gold, silver, aluminum or alloys ) or, for example, testing gasoline , diesel , biodiesel and lubricants . The specifications and test procedures for pharmaceuticals are precisely prescribed in pharmacopoeias . The legal basis for the pharmacopoeia in Germany is § 55 of the Medicines Act . There are also precise specifications for the test methods to be used for food (example: Food Chemicals Codex , degree of purity for food additives in the USA) and many consumer goods . In the chemical industry, so-called "In-house methods" used as a test procedure for raw materials, intermediate and finished products. These methods are usually documented as part of the management system and are part of commercial contracts in specification agreements with customers and suppliers.
