Prague Vigilante Medal

The Prague Vigilante Medal was donated by Emperor Franz Joseph I on October 25, 1866 and was intended to honor members of the three Prague vigilante corps who had volunteered to take up arms during the German War against Prussia and its allies. The contingent consisted of the citizen snipers, the city guards and the police sniper corps.

Appearance

The round medal made of silver shows the bust of the founder, turned to the left , who wears a laurel wreath on his head . The inscription FRANZ JOSEPH I KAISER VON OESTERREICH can be found all around . In the lapel a wreath of oak leaves tied together at the bottom , in the middle of which the year 1866 can be seen underlined .

Carrying method

The award was worn on an elongated white and red striped ribbon - the colors of the Kingdom of Bohemia - on the left side of the chest.
