Margrave Albrecht Achilles
Duke Ludwig the Rich

The Peace of Prague of 1463 ended the military conflict between Albrecht Achilles von Brandenburg-Ansbach and the Lower Bavarian Duke Ludwig the Rich .

prehistory

The starting point of the military conflict was the power-political ambitions of Margrave Albrecht Achilles von Brandenburg-Ansbach, who wanted to achieve supremacy in Franconia . Duke Ludwig the Rich defeated Albrecht Achilles in 1462 in the Bavarian War in the Battle of Giengen ( Giengen an der Brenz ). At the same time, Ludwig was also in conflict with Emperor Friedrich III. around Donauwörth.

Result of the Peace of Prague

In 1463, through the mediation of the Bohemian King Georg von Podiebrad , an agreement was reached on the Peace of Prague : Louis the Rich withdrew from the occupied territories around the city of Roth and from the castles of Stauff, Landeck, Tann and Schönberg. Albrecht Achilles indirectly waived his claim to the imperial jurisdiction of the Nuremberg Regional Court in the Duchy of Bavaria. Emperor Friedrich III. again waived the high fine imposed by Ludwig for offenses committed by Ludwig against the emperor and the empire with regard to Donauwörth , and Duke Ludwig waived his claims to this imperial city.

The peace treaty temporarily restored the balance of power in Franconia.
