The Jawa 50 Type 05 , also known as "Ideal" , was another model in the Pionýr series that Jawa produced in Bystrica . She had a two-stroke - single cylinder engine and was the first two-seater moped from Jawa. The first Pionýr - Type 550 was produced from 1955 and was replaced by the Type 555 in 1958 . Based on this, the type 05 was developed, which was produced from 1962 to 1966 in a number of 115,214. In 1966, the hardly changed Type 20 replaced the model with increased engine power. The Jawa 05 was exported to the GDR , among others .

technical description

The horizontal, wind-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine was retained, the output of which was increased from 2.2 to 3.0 hp. The frame was open and welded from profiles. The telescopic fork with 90 mm suspension travel was adopted from the 555 . The rear suspension with swing arm and hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers (85 mm travel) was new . The tires were reinforced and now had the dimensions 2.75 x 16. The exhaust noise was greatly reduced, the maximum sound intensity was 75 dB. The handlebar was height adjustable. The very simple electrical equipment (6 V) included, in addition to the interrupter ignition system, a headlight (15/15 W), a tail light and a horn. The sheet metal cladding of the predecessor has been further developed into a harmonious whole. The headlights have been completely redesigned. In addition, the type 05 generally had a knee plate that also formed the tread. Therefore the type 05 can be described as a small scooter ; he still had foot controls. The increased engine power made it possible to equip the vehicle with a bench seat for two-person operation. The footrests for the second person were attached to the tuning fork.

properties

In the Eastern Bloc , the Jawa 05 was the first two-seater moped that was eagerly awaited. Nevertheless, the KFT test report was almost entirely negative. As with earlier Pionýr types, an unfavorable torque curve of the motor was found. Among other things, when over-revving in second gear, the engine speed was insufficient for a smooth transition to third gear. In two-person operation or in headwinds, third gear can often not be used due to insufficient engine power. A four-speed gearbox is necessary with such engine characteristics. Overall, the increase in performance to 3 hp was too tight to do justice to two-person operation. The already narrow bench is too short. In addition, the ground clearance in two-person operation was no longer sufficient; the stand scratched on the roadway even at a moderate incline. The gear shifted imprecisely and noisily. On the chassis side, the tendency of the rear wheel to move away was criticized, both the rear swing arm and the telescopic fork are not sufficiently rigid. Overall, the suspension is hard and respond insensitively. The effect of the front brake was completely inadequate, while the rear brake was difficult to adjust and tended to lock. At 2.7 l / 100 km, the fuel consumption is unnecessarily high due to excessive enrichment in the partial load range. The official maximum speed was not reached, instead 51 km / h was measured or 58 km / h with the driver lying down. Only the external shape of the Jawa 05 and the relatively good weather protection provided by the brackets were praised.
