Prashanta Sinha (* 1940 ; † September 22, 2015 in Kolkata ) was an Indian soccer player . The defender won the gold medal with the Indian national team at the Asian Games in 1962 .

Athletic career

Sinha first played for Eastern Railway FC . In 1964, the defensive player moved to East Bengal FC , where he briefly served as team captain in 1967 . Until 1971 he played for the club with which he won the championship of the Calcutta Football League and the IFA Shield three times .

With the national team Sinha took part in the Asian Games in 1962. At first he was primarily a reservist, both in the semifinals against South Vietnam and in the 2-1 victory over South Korea with goals from Pradip Kumar Banerjee and Jarnail Singh in the final. At the Asian Cup in 1964 , he was second with the national team, only the host Israel had to give up the team.

Sinha died in September 2015 at the age of 75, leaving behind a daughter.
