The magazine praxis gottesdienst was a Catholic , pastoral liturgical specialist magazine in the German-speaking area, which was published between 2002 and 2017 by Verlag Herder .

concept

The magazine praxis gottesdienst was aimed primarily at women and men who work full-time or voluntarily in the field of liturgy . Above all, acolytes, lecturers, communion helpers, leaders of Word-of-God celebrations and devotions, sacristans, church musicians and employees in liturgical committees and preparatory groups were thought of.

The contributions mostly comprised models of worship and material suggestions, tips and literature reviews, as well as information on liturgy based on the church year . Fixed categories were "I mean", "Practice knowledge", "Practice tip", "Question - answer", "Introductions to the scriptures ", "Don't forget" and "Last tip". A thematically appropriate photo was printed on the cover every month.

Most recently, auxiliary bishop Jörg Michael Peters , Hubert Lenz and Martin Conrad acted as editorial advisory board .

history

The steady enlargement of the pastoral rooms in the German dioceses and the associated increased involvement of volunteers in the liturgical service on site prompted the liturgical institutes of Germany , Austria and Switzerland , the editors of the magazine Gottesdienst and the Herder publishing house to found a magazine that should do justice to the changed situation. The concept therefore pursued two goals from the start: “It should provide very practical aids and tips for the preparation and design of church services - right through to finished models - and it should be solid based on the concrete material and in connection with it over time Basic knowledge about the liturgy is imparted. "

The first issue of praxis gottesdienst was published in October 2002 .

With the November 2017 issue, the magazine was discontinued as an independent print medium and its sections were integrated into the sister magazine Gottesdienst.

In order to make the magazine accessible to a larger number of readers, the editor, editorial staff and publisher decided to establish the website, which has been online since November 16, 2011. Special filter functions enable users there to access the contributions of all previously published print editions according to practice-related search criteria. After the magazine was discontinued, the online portal was shut down in December 2017. Since then, the web address has been forwarded to the homepage of the sister magazine Gottesdienst .
