Prellerhaus (residential building, Weimar)

The Prellerhaus at Belvederer Allee 8 in Weimar is the former home of the painter Friedrich Preller the Elder .

Construction began in the spring of 1867 and was completed in 1868.

In 1869 the address was An der Belveder'sche Chaussee 143 , 1876 Belvedere'r Allee 14 , 1882 then Belvederer Allee 7 , from 1910 finally Belvederer Allee 8 .

The house was owned by the Preller family until 1941/42.

On the wall of the terrace (south side of the house facing the garden) is the surrounding Genelli frieze , with which Preller honored his artist friend Bonaventura Genelli . On the north facade there is a plaque with the inscription:

ERIEDRICH PRELLER GEB. LIVED HERE 1804 GEST. 1878.

The building with the outbuilding, patio and garden is now a listed building.
