Premio de Novela Ciudad de Torrevieja
Premio de Novela Ciudad de Torrevieja is a Spanish literary award .
This prize was launched in 2001 by the municipality of Torrevieja ( Alicante province ) in order to be able to promote the region regionally and internationally “literarily”. The publisher Plaza & Janés was there from the start .
The award ceremony took place for the first time in 2001. On the occasion of this ceremony, an award was made every two years. In 2003, this project was withdrawn in favor of an annual award. This prize is usually awarded in September each year; the jury consists of the managing director of Plaza & Janés , the incumbent first mayor of Torrevieja and a group of authors and literary critics, who are each selected for an award.
The prize is awarded to authors from the Spanish-speaking world; in addition to Spain, there are mainly Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. It is considered to be one of the most highly endowed literary prizes in the world. The department store chain El Corte Inglés has been won over for marketing and advertising the novels of the award winners .
