José Carlos Somoza
José Carlos Somoza (born November 13, 1959 in Havana ) is a Spanish writer .
Somoza is a psychiatrist by profession. He has lived in Spain since 1960. For his novel Clara (Clara y la penumbra) ( ISBN 3-548-60405-6 ) he received the Premio Fernando Lara literary prize in 2001 and the prestigious Hammett Prize a year later . In Sweden he was awarded the Flintyxan in 2004 for the novel Idéernas grotta (Original: La caverna de las ideas , Eng . The riddle of the philosopher ) .
His detective novel Das Rätsel des Philosophen (La caverna de las ideas) ( ISBN 3-546-00221-0 ), "The Ivory Box", "The Thirteenth Lady" and the science thriller Das Einstein Project have also been published in Germany .
