The Presbyterian University College (dt. Presbyterian University) (short: PUC) in Abetifi , Agogo and Akropong is a university college that is affiliated with the University of Ghana . The PUC was admitted as a University College on November 23, 2003, the Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor opened the university on March 27, 2004. The origins of this university in Abetifi go back to 1869. The campus in Abetifi is at an altitude of 630 meters, making it the highest inhabited place in Ghana.
history
One of the first Basel missions in Ghana was founded in Abetifi . As early as 1869, Rev. FA Ramseyer and his wife were taken by Abetifi as prisoners of war on their way to Kumasi. Ramseyer returned to Abetifi after his release and founded the Basel Mission. Today's campus is partly on the area where Ramseyer built his training center.
Faculties
The university is in Abetifi-Kwahu and Akropong-Akwapin in the Eastern Region and Agogo in the Ashanti Region .
Abetifi-Kwahu Campus
There are four faculties on the Abetifi-Kwahu campus, the oldest part of the university.
The Faculty of Business Administration offers the departments of Accounting / Finance, Finance / Banking, Human Resources, Management and Marketing.
The Faculty of Engineering combines the departments for engineering, engineering informatics, electrics and electronics, and metallurgy and materials.
The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science consists of the departments Information / Communication Services and Information / Communication Technology.
So far, the departments for chemistry, mathematics and physics have been opened in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The PUC's Abetifi-Kwahu campus is located near Abetifi . The campus is located in the Okwawu-Mampong hills at an altitude of up to 630 meters above sea level, making it the highest area in Ghana. Abetifi is 180 km from Accra and 130 km from Kumasi . Abetifi is near the city of Nkawkaw , which is between Accra and Kumasi.
Agogo campus
Three faculties have been established on Agogo Campus:
The Faculty of Agriculture combines the departments of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Production Technology, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Grain Cultivation.
The Faculty of Health and Medicine is divided into Child Health, General Health, Medicine, Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Surgery.
The Faculty of Science houses the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Optometry.
Akropong Campus
So far, three faculties have been established on the Akropong Campus:
The Faculty of Art and Culture is divided into the departments of Cultural Studies, Design and Art Studies, Industrial Art, Integrated Urban Art and Industry, and Painting and Sculpture.
The Faculty for Development Studies combines the departments of Architecture, Building Technology, Development Planning, Environmental Studies, Personnel Development, Ergonomics, and Tourism and Hotel Management.
The Faculty of Ethics and Social Sciences is divided into the departments of Economics, Geography, Land Management, Languages, Modern Administration, and Religion and Missionary Activities.
