Christa Lehmann (born March 30, 1921 , † October 18, 1992 in Weimar ) was a German actress and theater director . She also taught as a professor at the Weimar Academy of Music .

Life

Lehmann received her acting lessons at the drama school of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin before she came to Weimar in 1947 through an engagement in Frankfurt (Oder) . Here she played her first role under the direction of Lothar Müthel with Hebbel's Marianne. She then worked for more than 25 years at the German National Theater in Weimar , where she developed into a well-known national personality in the field of acting and directing. From 1959 Lehmann worked as a university teacher at the Weimar Music School. At this time her first directorial work at the opera school followed ( Threepenny Opera , The Barber of Seville ). At this venue she was made an honorary member and professor.

The vital actress was later seen in the film. At DEFA , for example, she played in Hans Röckle and the Devil (1974), Die Verlobte (1980) or classic film adaptations such as Kabale und Liebe (1959) and Lotte in Weimar (1975). Especially as the grumpy day laborer Habersaat in the multi-part television series Weg über Land (1968), Lehmann was remembered by television audiences in the former GDR.
