After Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first president to take over the patronage in 1956, the successors in office continued the tradition and award of the PCA. Under President Trump , the PCA was discontinued on June 30, 2018

In Germany, the PCA campaign for the benefit of the Bundeswehr Social Works brokered the award of the badge through the Bundeswehr Fachschulbetreuungsstelle Cologne.
