Press center
A press center serves companies and organizations as an interface to the media. A catering establishment is often also connected. The press center provides journalists with press information and a place to work. As part of media work, it belongs in the area of public relations . Occasionally the term press house is misleadingly used to mean press center .
Examples of press centers
At all trade fairs there is a press center as a central contact point for journalists. Similar temporary facilities can be found at other major events.
Some large municipalities and state governments have set up press centers for an unlimited period of time. Sometimes press clubs also operate such press centers.
The " House of the Federal Press Conference ", located on Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin across from the parliament buildings in the Spreebogen , is particularly well known . Since 1999 it has been used for communication between political elected officials and the media. Press conferences are held here in order to give the members of the BPK "opportunities to provide comprehensive information to the public". There is also a conference center in the house. In contrast to today's vernacular for the BPK building in Berlin, the earlier BPK buildings in the parliament and government district in Bonn were simply referred to as the press building.
