The Prestrud Bank ( English ) is a submarine bank in the Ross Sea off the Shirase coast on the Edward VII Peninsula in the Antarctic Ross Dependency .
The designation confirmed by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) in June 1988 was based on the neighboring Prestrud Inlet . Its namesake is the Norwegian naval officer and polar explorer Kristian Prestrud (1881-1927), who was involved in the South Pole expedition (1910-1912) of the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen .
