Primo Zamparini (born February 9, 1939 in Fabriano , Italy ) is a former Italian bantamweight boxer.

amateur

Zamparini was Italian champion in 1960 and 1961 and won the silver medal in bantamweight at the Olympic Games in Rome that same year . In the final he was defeated by the Soviet athlete Oleg Grigoryev .

professional

In 1961 he became a professional. He ended his first fifteen fights without defeat (two draws). Of the remaining thirteen matches, he was only able to win three. He drew four times, including in March 1963 when he was fighting for the Italian bantamweight championship. With the exception of three fights in Australia in late 1963 , Zamparini only fought in his homeland. He lost the three away fights, including against Oliver Taylor , who had won the bronze medal in the bantamweight division in Rome .
