Primor Charcutaria-Prima, SA , also Carnes Primor (German: Meat Primor ) or Primor for short , is a Portuguese meat production company with a focus on pork .
Founded in 1961 in Vila Nova de Famalicão by Joaquim Moreira Pinto, the company was dedicated to the production of sausages. In 1967 son Pedro Pinto took over the management and expanded the product range from 1971. Own fattening and slaughterhouses were added. From 1990 the company also turned to export. Pedro Jorge Pinto, the third generation of the family, took over the company in 2006 and expanded Primor through further acquisitions at home and abroad. From 2008 the house started offering poultry products with turkey breast.
Today the company is part of the family-owned holding company Joaquim Moreira Pinto Group , with its own companies in Angola and Spain and a presence in 20 countries. Primor now generates 30% of its sales abroad, 10% of which in Russia .
