The Prinsleden (German "Prinzenweg") is a summer and winter hiking trail through the Norwegian and Swedish fells (norw. Fjell ). It leads about 95 km from Katterat (municipality of Narvik in Norway ) to Nikkaluokta (municipality of Kiruna in Sweden ). The route was first described in the spring of 2013 in the "turist" magazine of the Svenska Turistföreningen (STF).

Course and route

The path runs for around 95 km between the railway station and the settlement of Katterat and Nikkaluokta along other marked hiking trails. In winter, however, the route is not marked (as of spring 2013).

Arrival and departure

The starting point Katterat Stasjon is on the route of the ore railway and can be reached by train from Kiruna as well as Narvik , but there is no road connection. There is a direct bus connection to Kiruna from Nikkaluokta .

particularities

In winter, you have to deviate from the summer path in various places and especially in the area of ​​the Kebnekaise massif there are also larger inclines to be overcome. Therefore, appropriate experience and equipment are required, especially in winter.
