The Prinzenkopf Tunnel , also known as the Prinzenkopf Tunnel , is a 459 m long railway tunnel on the Moselle route across from Pünderich . On the west side, the tunnel is connected to the Pündericher slope viaduct , on the east side the double-decker Alf-Bullay bridge . The tunnel was opened in 1874 under the management of the Alf (Mosel) railway office. The tunnel is one of the most complex railway structures between Trier and Koblenz . In the course of electrification , the tunnel had to be deepened.
