The private clinic Josephinum is a hospital in the Schönfeldstraße in Munich district Maxvorstadt .
founding
The private clinic was founded in 1893 by the doctor Dr. Guido Jochner founded at Arcisstrasse 41. The inauguration of the private clinic took place on December 8 of the same year. St. Joseph was chosen as the patron saint and the clinic was accordingly christened "Josephinum". In 1903 she moved to the current house at Schönfeldstrasse 16.
The baroque building in late historicism was built from 1901 to 1904 by the then leading German civil engineering company Heilmann & Littmann .
Transition to the foundation
Jochner and his wife Olga, née Countess von Tattenbach, gave the private clinic the form of the Guido and Olga Jochner Foundation in their joint will in 1929. Jochner died three years later. The university professor Dr. Ludwig Kielleuthner is the medical director and the first board member of the foundation.
In 1934 the Josephinum was expanded with the acquisition of Schönfeldstrasse 18 and 20, and extensive renovation and modernization measures were carried out. In February 1945, the building was severely damaged by fire bombs being dropped during the Western Allied air raids on Munich .
The clinic has been anchored in the Bavarian hospital requirements plan since 1976 . This secured the prerequisites for state funding. The Josephinum was renovated in the following years. In addition to funding from the Free State, the clinic was supported by the foundation's financial commitment.
The building is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Maxvorstadt under the number D-1-62-000-6285 .
