The Schwabach riflemen are mentioned for the first time in writing in connection with a war campaign by the Ansbach margravine Elisabeth in 1411. The first sporting activities are documented in the Kitzingen city archive in the form of two letters from 1555 and 1566 at rifle festivals in Schwabach.
In 1807 the riflemen lost their regulatory and military duties when a new military constitution was created in the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Landwehr was formed.
In 1868 it was recognized by the General Rifle Regulations for the Kingdom of Bavaria .
