The Prix ​​Guillaume Apollinaire is one of the oldest poetry prizes to be awarded. It was first awarded to Hervé Bazin in France in 1947 . The name pays homage to the poet Guillaume Apollinaire . The annual prizes are intended to honor an independent and modern work of an œuvre written in French, regardless of traditional dogmas or techniques . The winners are determined by a jury from the Académie Goncourt . The prize is considered one of the most important poetry prizes in France and is rewarded with prize money between € 1,500 and € 3,500.

The Prix ​​Guillaume Apollinaire should not be confused with the Prix ​​Apollinaire . This was awarded from 2001 to the 2007/2008 school year for outstanding achievements in French by the Literary Society Karlsruhe and the Robert Bosch Foundation for special school achievements to high school graduates in French. The prize consisted of a certificate and a bilingual anthology of French poetry in four volumes supported by the Foundation. The price is currently suspended or has been discontinued.
