Test drive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Test drives are journeys to establish damage or, after the damage has been repaired, to prove the serviceability of vehicles .

Test drives are usually carried out by workshop employees on motor vehicles and by the shipyard on ships . Private individuals take test drives primarily before purchasing a vehicle. When buying a used car, it can usually be assumed that the technical condition will be checked. In the case of new vehicles , it usually involves trips to prepare for the purchase decision.

Test drives do not fall under the social regulations for road traffic regardless of the vehicle's loading condition.

Some countries have their own license plates that allow a test drive with vehicles that are not yet approved for use.

Liability issues

During a test drive, the question arises of who is liable for any damage . The workshop / shipyard usually has insurance for commercial test drives . In the private sector, we recommend an agreement on the test drive, which is also recommended by automobile clubs such as the ADAC or Auto Club Europa , in order to regulate an exclusion of liability or a limitation to intent and gross negligence .
