Probus (Byzantium)

Probus († 306 ) was Bishop of Byzantion under Emperor Diocletian .

Probus was the son of Dometius , who had also served as the city's bishop. The Diocletian persecution of Christians fell into the term of office of Probus, which began in 293 . Probus was succeeded by his brother Metrophanes , the city's first bishop, about whom more reliable information is available.
