Dometius
Dometius ( Greek : Dometios ) († 284 ) was Bishop of Byzantion as the successor of Titus .
Dometius was allegedly a brother of the Emperor Probus . He grew up a pagan and then converted to Christianity. In 272 he took over the office of bishop from Titus. His term of office falls under the rule of the last pre-Diocletian soldier emperors. The Christian community was largely spared from persecution during this time. Rufinus I was succeeded in the episcopate . Two of Dometius' sons, Probus and Metrophanes of Constantinople , were later to become bishops of Byzantium.
