from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The product model is a term from the field of product data management . All product-defining information that arises in the product development process is mapped in the product model. The aim is to digitally record all relevant information over the entire product life cycle . The product model is thus the conceptual expression of the product .

As a rule, the documents that represent the product model with its properties and links were created with the most varied of systems. The product model can be built up from various partial models . If an integrative approach is pursued to take several models into account, then it is an integrated product model .

Although these subject-specific models are usually distributed in different files, one speaks of a product model.
