Profusion is a progressive rock band from Siena that has existed since 2002 .
history
In 2001 Vladimer Sichinava, Jonathan Caradonna and Marco Pieri founded the band “Mardi Gras Experience”. The trio was heavily influenced by American progressive rock of the 1990s. In 2002 the band was renamed "Profusion". "Profusion" is a combination of "Progressive" and "Fusion". The group soon expanded to include guitarist Alberto Riggi and singer Alessandro Buzzo. In December 2002 Profusion completed the recording of the demo album Una sera a Samperbuio .
After recording the demo album, the band composed complicated musical structures. The new music was very different from the music on the demo album. During this time the band had their first public appearances. In 2003 it was expanded to include Fabiano Biagini (flute). The band developed from this point in the direction of progressive rock of the 1970s. In July 2004 Profusion started recording a new album. The recordings were hampered by numerous problems and were delayed. One Piece Puzzle was finally released in 2006. During the recording of the album, Marco Pieri and Fabiano Biagini left the band and the group was close to its end. However, in 2007 bassist Luca Cambi and flautist Sara Pianigiani were added.
In 2009 Sara Pianigiani was replaced by Irene Conforti, who had already participated in the recordings for the album One Piece Puzzle . At this time guitarist Thomas Laguzzi joined the group for Alberto Riggi. In June 2010 the band went back into the studio to record the second album RewoToweR , on which the pop-soul singer Luca Latini participated, as well as Simon Hosford (Tommy Emmanuel Band, Virgil Donati's On the Virg), Tita Nesti (Italian jazz Singer) and Maia Baratashvili (Georgian jazz singer). In autumn 2011 Profusion signed a contract with ProgRock Records. The American label released the album RewoToweR at the beginning of 2012.
The band's third album, Phersu , was released on September 22, 2015 , this time in collaboration with the opera singer Anita Rachvelishvili and the percussionist of the Georgian band The Shin , Mamuka Ghaghanidze. In 2015 David Peppi (guitar) and Juri Maccianti (bass) joined the band for Luca Cambi and Thomas Laguzzi. Her music is currently being released on Progressive Promotion Records .
