The Shin is a Georgian band that has existed since 1998. In 2014 she represented Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen together with the singer Mariko Ebralidze .

Band history

The Shin mainly serve the genre of world music and are one of the most famous Georgian bands in this area. They describe their style as a mixture of jazz, funk, fusion, flamenco, ravel and shakti, a Hindu term for the energetic female elemental force of the universe. The band's name comes from the Georgian word shin , which means "to come home".

On February 4, 2014, the Georgian broadcaster SSM announced that the group, together with the singer Mariko Ebralidze, would represent Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the title Three Minutes to Earth . However, the group could not qualify for the final.

Mamuka Ghaganidze, who joined the band in 2002, died in August 2019 of complications from skin cancer .
