The Tokyo Darts Masters is a tournament in darts and was held for the second time from July 6th to 7th, 2016 by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in the Kokuritsu Yoyogi Kyōgijō in Tokyo . It was the fourth event of the 2016 World Series of Darts .

Defending champion Phil Taylor , who last year defeated Peter Wright 8: 7 legs in the final, was replaced by Gary Anderson , who got the upper hand in the final with an 8: 6 win in legs against Michael van Gerwen .

format

A total of 16 players took part in the tournament. The field of participants consisted of the 6 best placed players of the PDC Order of Merit , 2 wildcard players and 8 additional local qualifiers. The current placement in the World Series ranking was the basis for the seeding list.

The tournament was played in a knockout system . The first round took place on July 6th. Game mode was a best of 11 legs . The quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final, which all took place on July 7th, were played in the best of 15 legs mode.

Prize money

The prize money for the Tokyo Darts Masters was not officially announced.

Since this is an invitation tournament, the prize money won will not be taken into account when calculating the PDC Order of Merit.
