The Auckland Darts Masters is a tournament in darts and was held for the second time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in the Trusts Arena in Auckland from June 17th to 19th, 2016 . It was the second event of the 2016 World Series of Darts .

Defending champion Adrian Lewis , who last year Raymond van Barneveld with 11:10 legs defeated in the final, reached the final again, had there but Gary Anderson with 7:11 legs beaten, which thus his second title in a World Series event win could.

format

A total of 16 players took part in the tournament. The field of participants consisted of the 6 best placed players of the PDC Order of Merit , 2 wildcard players and 8 additional local qualifiers. The current position in the World Series ranking was the basis for the seeding list of the players.

The tournament was played in a knockout system . The first round took place on June 17th. Game mode was a best of 11 legs . In the quarter-finals, which was played on June 18, the mode was a best of 19 legs . The semi-finals and the final, which all took place on June 19, were played in the best of 21 legs mode.

Prize money

The prize money for the Auckland Darts Masters was not officially announced.

Since this is an invitation tournament, the prize money won was not taken into account when calculating the PDC Order of Merit.
