The Auckland Darts Masters is a tournament in darts and was organized from August 3rd to 5th, 2018 by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was the fourth event of the 2018 World Series of Darts . As in the previous year, the venue was the Trusts Arena in Auckland.

The tournament was won by Michael van Gerwen from the Netherlands , who beat his compatriot Raymond van Barneveld in the final with 11: 4 legs .

format

A total of 16 players took part in the tournament. The field of participants consisted of the four best placed players of the PDC Order of Merit and four wildcard players. In addition, eight local players took part. Two of them were invited by the PDC, the other six were able to qualify in advance at a qualification tournament. All local participants started the tournament as unset players.

The tournament was played in a knockout system . The first round took place on August 3rd, game mode was a best of 11 legs . The quarter-finals were held on August 4th in best of 19 legs mode, the semi-finals and the final on August 5th, both in best of 21 legs mode.

Prize money

The tournament totaled £ 60,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:

In German-speaking countries, the event was not broadcast on TV. However, the paid streaming platform DAZN broadcast the entire tournament.

Internationally, all games were broadcast by the British TV station ITV. They could also be seen in the live stream on pdc.tv.
