The Dubai Darts Masters is a tournament in darts and was held for the fourth time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from May 26th to 27th, 2016 . It was the first event of the World Series of Darts 2016 . The venue was the Dubai Tennis Stadium in Dubai for the fourth time .
Defending champion Michael van Gerwen was defeated for the first time ever at the Dubai Darts Masters with a 9:11 final defeat by Gary Anderson .
format
A total of 8 players took part in the tournament. The field of participants consisted of the 6 best placed players of the PDC Order of Merit and 2 wildcard players. The position in the Order of Merit was the basis for the seeding list.
The tournament was played in a knockout system . The first round took place on May 26th. Game mode was a best of 19 legs . The semi-finals and the final were all played on the evening of May 27th in a best of 21 legs mode.
Prize money
The tournament totaled $ 245,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
