The 23000E Schtorm ( Russian Шторм ; German: storm) project is a project of the Russian state Krylov Research Center with the aim of developing a large aircraft carrier for 80–90 fighter aircraft with a displacement of around 100,000 tons for the Russian naval fleet .

Valery Polyakov, the vice director of the research center, shared the following project details on the design status at that time in an interview with IHS Jane's 360 on May 14, 2015:

  • Length: 330 meters
  • Width: 40 meters
  • Draft : 11 meters
  • Cruising speed: 20 knots
  • Top speed: 30 knots
  • Drive, depending on the customer, conventional or nuclear drive
  • Crew: 4,000-5,000 men
  • Endurance: 120 days
  • Aircraft: 80-90

The aircraft carrier has a straight and an angled flight deck with four launch positions: two via launch ramps and two via electromagnetic catapults.

Polyakov named Sukhoi Su-57 K, MiG-29 K, radar early warning aircraft and Kamow Ka-27 marine helicopters as possible aircraft equipment.

On the carrier’s military duties, Polyakov said: “Project 23000E multipurpose aircraft carrier was developed to carry out operations in remote and oceanic areas, to combat enemy targets on land and at sea, to strengthen naval forces, to protect landing forces and to secure air defenses. "

As with the British Queen Elizabeth class, the superstructures are distributed over two stations (called islands).

In terms of size and combat strength, the planned aircraft carrier would roughly correspond to the Nimitz class of the US Navy , the largest carriers in the world until 2017.
