Promachos (son of Heracles)
Promachos ( Greek Πρόμαχος ) is a twin brother of Echephron in Greek mythology . Both were sons of Herakles , who fathered them with Psophis , the daughter of King Eryx of Sikania, when he was traveling through Sicily with the cattle of Geryon .
In the Arcadian city of Phegia , Heracles handed the Psophis, who was pregnant with the twins, into the care of his host Lykortas . Promachos and Echephron named Phegia after their mother, so that from now on the city was called Psophis. In addition, the brothers are said to have founded the local sanctuary of Aphrodite Erykine and received their own places of worship as heroes.
