The protein L is a protein from Peptostreptococcus magnus , the antibody binds.

properties

Protein L is used for immune evasion and is a virulence factor . The binding of antibodies reduces an antigen-antibody reaction . Protein L has 719 amino acids and has low homology to other bacterial antibody-binding proteins such as Protein A , Protein G , Protein A / G or M protein . Protein L binds to the variable region of the light chains (in the region of VκI, VκIII and VκIV, but not VκII) of immunoglobulins of the IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD types, as well as scFv .
