The Protestant town church of Obermoschel , along with the Landsberg castle ruins, is the landmark of the smallest Palatinate town and the most famous building by the architect Friedrich Gerhard Wahl .
Building history
Around 1785 the old church of Obermoschel had become too small for the population. One now proceeded to the new building of the dilapidated church. Within three years (1786–1789), according to plans by Friedrich Gerhard Wahl, a larger, baroque town church was built as a five-axis, elevated hall with a 35 meter high west tower, which has shaped the townscape ever since. The church is strongly reminiscent of the Protestant town church of Annweiler am Trifels , which was destroyed in the Second World War and which was also built by Wahl.
description
The church is 40 meters long, 12 meters wide and 25 meters high without a tower. It has 437 seats and the equipment from the time it was built has been completely preserved. The organ was renewed in 1968 by the Oberlinger company .
